Water can be purified using evaporation and condensing of water in a vacuum if two different fluid temperatures are provided.  The process is demonstrated to work but needs a cost effective cold water source.

The advantage to this method is the lack of heat energy required when compared with MSF and the lack of RO membranes when compared with reverse osmosis.
